BIOGRAPHY & CV

Born 1981 in rural New Hampshire, Peter was raised a “free-range-child”. Currently based in NYC, his paintings showcase vividly colored, highly detailed Nature-Culture oriented themes.
He earned a BFA from Cornell University (’03) and MFA from Hunter College (’09), where he received the 2009 Tony Smith Fund Award. He has been awarded various distinctions including fellowships at the National Academy of Fine Arts, Vermont Studio Center and Wave Hill, plus residencies at the Red Gate Gallery (Beijing) and the Bronx Museum of the Arts.
In addition to solo shows at Wave Hill (NYC) and Kathleen Cullen Fine Arts (NYC), Peter has exhibited internationally and nationally at: Chinese Contemporary Gallery (Beijing); Rocketart (AUS); the Bronx Museum; Heather James Fine Art (Palm Springs, CA); Wave Hill (NYC); Daniel Weinberg Gallery (LA); and the National Academy of Fine Arts. His work was recently featured in "Like a Rolling Stone", a three-person exhibition at Ana Cristea Gallery in New York City, and will be including in the forthcoming "Doors" invitational exhibition in Seoul Korea.
His work is featured in prominent collections, including the Beth Rudin DeWoody Collection, the John H. Friedman Collection, the Shirley L. & Herbert J. Semler Foundation, the Stephen P. Hanson Collection and Citibank.
He is also an avid guitarist, focussing on experimental, electronic jazz projects. Peter has performed at venues such as The Stone and CBGBs and recently co-founded Coo Gua, an electronic-jazz collective. |
